Kate is an award winning sports journalist and trailblazer working for the Telegraph. She joined Telegraph Media Group in 2017 as a Rugby Reporter and has gone on to cover across sports and now holds the title Sports Features Writer and Interviewer. Kate was for many years the only woman covering men's rugby for a UK national newspaper including at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Kate played an integral role in the development of Telegraph Women's Sport in the 18 months prior to the 2019 launch pioneering the publication's coverage of areas such as female athlete health before a dedicated team of women's sport staff was hired but continues to cover women's and men's sport. She has interviewed everyone from Monica Seles to Niall Horan! She was the winner of AIPS (International Sports Journalists) Column of the Year in 2022 for her agenda setting column on sexism she experienced as a sports journalist.
She has been shortlisted five times in the British Sports Journalism Awards since joining the Telegraph, twice winning bronze awards in the Rugby Journalist category. Prior to joining the Telegraph and moving to London , Kate worked freelance based in her native Dublin for six years and in that time she co-authored the book Six Nations, Two Stories. She has multiple global sporting events including three men's Rugby World Cups, Wimbledon Championships and The Open as well as travelling from Barcelona to San Diego to Cape Town for interviews.
